Somapa Information Technology PCL (“Somapa”) has signed a

Memorandum of Understanding with the Lao People’s Democratic Republic,

(“Lao PDR”) Ministry of Public Security for the implementation in Lao PDR of

an Advanced Passenger Processing system (“APPS”)

that will service three international airports in Lao PDR.
 

• Vientiane Times reported that Thailand’s Somapa Information Technology PCL, will implement the system in Lao PDR and that the new APP system aims to tackle terrorism by identifying suspects before they board an aircraft or reach their final destination.
   

• The Ministry of Public Security and Immigration Police Department, General Director Lieutenant Colonel Saisaming Sivilay (shown above shaking the hand of Khun Namchoke), was quoted as saying “that the information gathered by the system will be passed directly to the Immigration Police Department in Lao PDR and to immigration officials at the passenger’s final destination in the country”.
   

• Somapa is also the operator of APPS in Thailand for Airports of Thailand (AOT) and Kollakorn Co., Ltd supplied the equipment for the Thailand operation.
